Blackberry & Rosemary Nordic Spritz
This is my elevated spin on a classic Gin & Jam cocktail, bringing together juicy Marionberry jam, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon, rosemary and a touch of honey-rosemary syrup — then giving it a Scandinavian twist with a splash of akvavit. Finished with chilled Prosecco and a little soda for those gorgeous bubbles, this one is crisp, refreshing and absolutely made for lingering around the table on a cool autumn evening. Skål!
Ingredients
- 2 oz gin
- 1 splash akvavit
- 1 tsp Marionberry jam (or blackberry jam)
- ½ oz elderflower liqueur
- ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
- ½ oz honey-rosemary syrup*
- Fresh rosemary sprigs
- 2 oz Prosecco
- 1 oz club soda
Honey-Rosemary Syrup
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup water
- 2-3 fresh rosemary sprigs
Instructions
Make Honey-Rosemary Syrup
- Add water, honey and fresh rosemary sprigs into a pot, and heat to a simmer. Stir until honey is completely dissolved – a couple of minutes. Remove from heat, and steep for 10-15 minutes. Cool completely, strain into bowl or small pitcher, and refrigerate until ready to use.
Make Cocktail
- Add the gin, akvavit, elderflower, lemon, syrup, jam and rosemary in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for a couple of minutes (until jam has fully incorporated and also allowing the rosemary to release the aromatic oils)
- Double strain in glass over fresh ice, top with Prosecco and soda.
- Garnish with rosemary, berries and a lemon wheel.
