Blackberry & Rosemary Nordic Spritz
This is my elevated spin on a classic Gin & Jam cocktail, bringing together juicy Marionberry jam, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon, rosemary and a touch of honey-rosemary syrup — then giving it a Scandinavian twist with a splash of akvavit. Finished with chilled Prosecco and a little soda for those gorgeous bubbles, this one is crisp, refreshing and absolutely made for lingering around the table on a cool autumn evening. Skål!
- 2 oz gin
- 1 splash akvavit
- 1 tsp Marionberry jam (or blackberry jam)
- ½ oz elderflower liqueur
- ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
- ½ oz honey-rosemary syrup*
- Fresh rosemary sprigs
- 2 oz Prosecco
- 1 oz club soda
Honey-Rosemary Syrup
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup water
- 2-3 fresh rosemary sprigs
Make Honey-Rosemary Syrup
Add water, honey and fresh rosemary sprigs into a pot, and heat to a simmer. Stir until honey is completely dissolved - a couple of minutes. Remove from heat, and steep for 10-15 minutes. Cool completely, strain into bowl or small pitcher, and refrigerate until ready to use.
Make Cocktail
Add the gin, akvavit, elderflower, lemon, syrup, jam and rosemary in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for a couple of minutes (until jam has fully incorporated and also allowing the rosemary to release the aromatic oils)
Double strain in glass over fresh ice, top with Prosecco and soda.
Garnish with rosemary, berries and a lemon wheel.
